Well then. That was an unexpected hiatus. My bad. But hello again!
I promised you guys a couple blog posts ago, which now has been like a month’s time, that I would explain the re-branding of my blog to you. What it was before, why I changed it, what I want it to be moving forward, etc. This post seems as good a time as any to do that, so settle in with popcorn, boys and girls!
Some of this story has been told in part through this blog’s journey, so my apologies for repeated pieces…
When I first started this blog, I was a runway model in SL who had just entered her first pageant. I had no idea what I was doing, but all through ‘school’ (I use this term lighter and lighter the longer I’ve been out of the runway scene) they stressed that a model MUST have a blog, because we MUST keep up on multiple platforms, etc etc. So I started it, and had no idea what I was doing. (Some would argue I still don’t. Hello hater who is still giving me traffic! ♥) But being the writer I am, I thought… why not turn that into the subject of the blog?
Thus “Confessions of a First Time Pageant Model” was born, and I focused my early posts on confessions about the modeling world in SL… my uncertainties… my bumbling through and trying to keep my head above water. That’s why I went back to the confession format for titling, because it was something I still liked, regardless of how absolutely un-creative the first name for this blog was.
When I was pulling further from the modeling world, or in one of my several tantrums – I’ll totally call it what it was – where I ‘quit’ modeling all together for awhile, I wanted to be relate-able to more than just other models. I was starting to hate most of the other models and their attitudes anyway, so I wanted to expand my circle and my readership, so I re-branded the first time, and called the blog “Alexithymia”.
I’ve had so many questions over the years about that name. Lol. Where it came from, what it means, if I made it up… haha. No, I didn’t make it up. And where it came from and what it means are two-fold.
My favorite – like *favorite* – band in high school and college was Anberlin. I still go on Youtube dives to listen to their old stuff. One of their song titles is Alexithymia, so the first, most basic reasoning behind choosing that for a name was that the song was likely on repeat at that time.
The other reason for that as a name is the actual definition of the word “Alexithymia” (yes, it’s a real thing).

And those of you that know me, know that that is me, to a tee, some days. I was having many more of those days than not at the time, and so the name fit perfectly.
I’d like to think of grown in the several years since that name was given to this blog, and also I’m just kind of sick of explaining it. Of course, I realize that the name I’ve chosen for the blog now, “Antisocial Darwinism” isn’t exactly the easiest to explain either, but at this point, I’m not going to anyway. As the tagline says, “I am under no obligation to make sense to you.”
I’m sorry the story wasn’t more interesting… but that’s it. What the blog started out as, why I changed it both times, and what it is now. It’s still going to just be me, both behind and in front of a camera, trying to share with you pretty pictures of pretty items that I think are neat. I’m in it for the long-haul… y’all are kinda stuck with me. ♥
