Ice keep pourin’ and the drink keep flowin’
Try to brush it off, but it keep on goin’
Covered in scars and I can’t help showin’
Whippin’ in the foreign, and the tears keep rollin’, yeah…
“One day it will all make sense. One day you will realize that those who couldn’t or wouldn’t stay are just a reminder of what you, at one time, thought you wanted… before you learned the worth of your heart.”
The particular song I’m working with tonight has been on repeat most of the day – and it was on repeat for several days last month – because I’m officially coming back to performance dancing, outside of Gor. *Beams* I’m going to be dancing in the Atlantis Grand Theater for their monthly Variety Show.
I’m actually kinda super excited, and super nervous. Like… I used to be involved in several dance troupes, I was building 2-3 new sets in a week, choreographing multiple routines at once… it was a damn rush most of the time, but it got to be a bit too stressful. And I was falling away from the things that made dance fun for me, so I took a step back, for a couple years. Going back into it, slowly, has been fun, though.
I’m sorry it’s taken me 6 months to even say yes, Kely my favorite. ♥
But the reason I chose this song as my song to come back to is the strangest thing… because I have no idea. I’m rarely the kind of person who just picks a song to choreograph to because “Oh, this sounds fun.” It usually has some kind of deeper meaning to me… speaks to something I feel the need to communicate, but can’t find my own words for it, so I use the lyrics and the dance. That wasn’t the case with this one, though. Or, at least, it didn’t jump out at me like they usually do.
I just started listening to it… and couldn’t stop… and then I found perfect dances that fit the tempo… and the right order to put them in… and then wanted to try my hand at making it a duet… and it all just fell into place and happened.
But I still couldn’t pinpoint a reason in my head behind WHY this song. Like… the lyrics are pretty powerful, if you truly listen to them… it’s almost like a painful story. At the time I chose this music, though, I was super happy. I’d just gotten married recently, the pregnancy was going well, I was in a great place in almost every aspect of my SL… and this was the song that jumped out at me.
Despite not knowing why, it was something that just… had to be danced. And so I will be. June 7th & 21st at the Atlantis Grand Theater.
Perhaps it was the Universe telling me I’d need this song right about now. ♥
