I miss the cold, a little bit.

Like… I grew up for the first 23 years of my life in Indiana, where we had real winter… and snow… and cold… and not a beach within a 20 minute drive. Lol. So I’m still sort of conditioned to think of the winter months as cold, despite the fact that I had to run my A/C last night.

And while I certainly don’t miss having to shovel the snow, salt over it, drive in it with crazy Northerners who don’t give a damn about other people on the road, and all of that other insanity that comes with Northern winters, I /do/ miss the look of snow… and the feel of sweater weather.

Sweater weather and cuddling in front of fireplaces. Maybe it’s the hopeless romantic in me, but I definitely miss those sorts of things.

New Years Day back home, snow or no snow, we would always have a bonfire at stupid-o’clock in the morning… watch the sun come up, and just drink coffee and try to last as long as we could outside before we were risking dumb things like frostbite.

We could still have bonfires here, but we haven’t since then. And I don’t think they’d be the same.

Maybe it’s all the death and uncertainty that’s happened in my family lately. But I’m just incredibly nostalgic.
